Job Title:  Engineer
Location:  Coventry 
Salary: £50k + OT

Shifts:  5 x 8 hour shifts per week
(Week 1 - 6am-2pm), (Week 2 - 2pm to 10pm), (Week 3 - 10pm to 6am).
Occasional weekends paid as overtime may be required.

Introduction
A newly built state-of-the-art materials recycling facility is seeking a multi-skilled Engineer to keep the site plant running smoothly, undertake preventative maintenance, and ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. The Engineer will have experience in all aspects of engineering including hydraulics, conveyors, PLC controlled equipment, sortation equipment, and balers. The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment, and qualified in a relevant mechanical/electrical engineering subject. In addition, the Engineer will have great problem solving and teamwork skills and a thirst for improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake PPM’s of the plant as per the OEM’s specifications and record successfully into a CMMS.
  • Perform duties of the team leader in their absence.
  • Monitor performance and engagement of support staff.
  • Monitor and adhere to Health & Safety compliance across the shift.
  • Provide support to operators as and when needed.
  • Undertake plant repairs in a timely manner to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Monitor performance of the cleaning team.
  • Mentor junior members of the team to ensure training and compliance goals are met
  • Contribute and drive-in continuous improvement mentalities into the team. 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in on-site maintenance activities and worked on heavy equipment such as conveyors, motors, bearings, basic fault finding, Robotics and hydraulics.
  • Completed minimum level 3 apprenticeship in engineering or similar.
  • Worked to tight schedules and in a planned maintenance environment.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Great problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work to the shift pattern mentioned in the job description.
  • Health + Safety awareness and good practices.

Desirables:

  • Experience of PLC based systems and waste management industry.
